Staff Recognized During American Education Week

In a year when so many things have been different than in years past, celebrating American Education Week Nov. 16-20 was done differently, too.

The past three years, the Shenandoah Iowa Education Foundation has held a banquet to honor our local educators that was held at the Elks Lodge, with more than 100 teachers, support staff and community members attending. This year, with COVID-19 restrictions, the foundation was forced to go a different route.

The foundation teamed up with our local McDonald’s Restaurant and the PTO that serves kindergarten-thru-eighth grades, to provide the staff with gift certificates to McDonald’s. Those were delivered at the schools during the week as a “thank you” and recognition for all they do.

The foundation strives to continue to support both the students and the teachers of Shenandoah Community Schools. This year, more than ever, we are reminded how hard the staff is working. We know this year is unprecedented and we know they’re going above and beyond to teach, help, reach out and keep everyone healthy.

We see you and we thank you.

If you’re interested in continuing to make positive things happen for Shenandoah Community Schools and would like to donate you can go to our website at: www.shenandoahiowaeducationfoundation.org or reach out to Treasurer Nick Bosley at nick@unitedgroupins.com or Executive Director Jamie Burdorf at j_burdorf@yahoo.com.
