PRESIDENT'S COLUMN

March 4, 2020

As president of the Shenandoah Iowa Education Foundation, I’m very happy to report that, by every measure, we had our biggest year ever in 2019.

And we start 2020 – our fifth year – poised to take some major steps to enhance the educational opportunities and experience for students and alumni of the Shenandoah Community Schools.

It’s all happening because of the generous donations and pledges made by hundreds of alumni, alum-nots, former & present faculty and staff, as well as some local businesses and organizations. They understand and are investing in the idea that having stronger schools is key to the vitality and prosperity of our whole area, now...

SHENANDOAH,Iowa -- Happy New Year to everyone reading my first blog of 2019. On behalf of the Shenandoah Iowa Education Foundation, we wish you all the best for the upcoming year.

I would like to take this opportunity and update all of you about a very recent and rewarding planning session for our foundation.

This year’s grain yields were again outstanding in southwest Iowa due to Mother’s Nature’s frequent rainstorms this summer, and those great yields make for happy farmers harvesting that crop. Our harvest was a little lat...

SHENANDOAH, Iowa, September 12, 2017 – Hello, supporters of the Shenandoah Iowa Education Foundation!

I know it has been a while since I posted a column. I did not intend to take this long to send out a new message, but honestly I have been struggling on what to communicate to all of you.  As of August 21, I knew what I wanted to visit about with you.  This might at first appear to have nothing to do with our Foundation, but I believe it has everything to do with our Foundation.

On that Monday, Aug. 21, I had the privilege to address about 160 teachers, administrators, and support staff of Shenandoah Community Schools on their first day of sc...
