It’s a marathon, not a sprint, as we build long-term financial support for our schools
SHENANDOAH, Iowa, June 12, 2017 – Hello to all supporters of the Shenandoah Schools! Welcome and thank you for spending some time looking around on our new website. I wasn’t exactly sure what to write in my first President’s Column, but I figured sharing from my heart would be a good way to start.
Let me start at the beginning. Our Shenandoah Iowa Education Foundation officially began with our first meeting in March 2016 with 11 members recruited for our Board of Directors and our Shenandoah Schools Superintendent Kerri Nelson. It is an honor and privilege to serve with these great people.
We all have one common goal and that is to enhance the educational experiences for our administrators, teachers, and students. These experiences can and will include providing grants for additional learning, scholarships, facility improvements, and other educational programs.
When we signed on to help with the foundation’s work, we knew it would be a marathon not a sprint. The work that is still just beginning in 2017 will provide educational opportunities for future generations. We are all in for the long run and look forward to building long-term relationships with you.
Each one of our board members brings different talents and ideas to our team. We grew up in different towns, went to different schools, graduated in different years, and know different people. Even with all these differences, one of our strengths is we have the ability to reach out to all the generations that have come through the Shenandoah Community Schools. We are working hard to find ways to reach all those generations.
For our foundation to make a difference in our Shenandoah Schools, we need your financial support. Each board member desires your partnerships as we help transform educational opportunities for our entire school. We promise to be transparent with you, we promise to keep you up to date on the activities of our board, and we promise to continually find ways to make things better for all students, teachers, and administrators.
We know if we can do that, we will also make our community better as well.
So, again thanks for viewing our new website and getting to know what the Shenandoah Iowa Education Foundation is just beginning to accomplish. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please reach out to any of our board members. Thank you for your support.
