Foundation awards first "mini-grants" to faculty

SHENANDOAH, Iowa -- The new Shenandoah Iowa Education Foundation awarded its first series of mini-grants to teachers on January 18. One grant was presented to teachers at each educational level -- Sarah F. Martin, Erin Mulder and Maria Blake. ​ Martin received a grant to help facilitate a high school FFA trip to hear nationally known speaker Temple Grandin discuss animal behavior, livestock handling and how her experience with autism influenced her career. Additionally, students will explore possible careers in agriculture and leadership roles. ​ Mulder, a middle school teacher, is using her grant to fund “BreakoutEDU” kits, which can enhance student learning by creating opportunities for le
